The Nissan Pathfinder is an off-road capable SUV with a comfortable cabin that comes loaded with standard and available features. For the 2023 model year, the Pathfinder lineup gains a new trim level. The Rock Creek model has some unique exterior features and a different look in the cabin. The Pathfinder has space in the cabin to haul you and your friend on any adventure, whether it’s on the road or off the beaten path. Here’s a closer look at the Pathfinder’s interior looks, seating, and features.

2022 Nissan Pathfinder

The Seating Layout

The Pathfinder’s standard configuration has three rows of seats and room for up to eight people. Second-row captain’s chairs are optional, reducing seating to seven. If you opt for these, it comes with a center console between the seats that’s easy to remove if you want to create more open space in the cabin. The second row’s EZ FLEX Seating System is a high point in this SUV. It provides easy access to the third row, even if you have a child seat attached. The second-row chairs easily slide forward and tilt up in just two easy-to-maneuver modes, so the third-row passengers can climb right in. This system is accessible from both sides of the vehicle.

Cloth chairs come standard in the entry-level Pathfinder, which also has manually adjustable front seats. Moving from the base up to the SV trim gets you a power-adjustable driver’s seat and heated front seats. The SL adds leather upholstery and a power-adjustable passenger seat.

The Pathfinder Platinum is the most luxurious model. It comes standard with the second-row captain’s chairs, a heated second row, and the removable center console. It also comes with memory settings for the driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, and semi-aniline leather upholstery for the seats.

The Storage Space

Like other SUVs, the Pathfinder needs to haul cargo in addition to people. If you have all three rows in use, you’ll find 16.6 cubic feet of cargo space in the back. This is plenty of room for a week’s worth of groceries or some small luggage. If you fold down the third row, the cargo area opens to 45 cubic feet, and if you fold down both back rows, you have just over 80 cubic feet of storage space. The area in the back is wide and open, making it easy to load large items. A manual liftgate comes standard, but a hands-free power liftgate is available for even easier access to the cargo area.

There are also several other storage spaces in the Pathfinder’s cabin. You’ll find a storage compartment under the cargo floor and storage in the center console. It also has lower dashboard storage bins and a pass-through center console that’s perfect for family-size snacks and other essentials. The second-row center console also provides out-of-sight storage.

The Cabin’s Convenience and Comfort Features

Every Pathfinder has an upscale leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start, and tri-zone automatic climate control. Bumping up to the SL gets you a heated steering wheel, manual sunshades for the second row, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Another bump to the Platinum adds ambient cabin lighting, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and upgraded premium leather wrapped around the steering wheel.

In addition to memory settings for the driver’s seat, the higher trims also have memory settings for the steering wheel. This is a convenient feature when you have more than one driver. You can each set your driving position, and it will automatically put you there when you get in the driver’s seat. There’s no more fumbling around to find a good position after someone else drives.

The Technology

You’ll find plenty of technology features in the Pathfinder cabin no matter which trim level you have. The entry-level S has an 8-inch touch-screen display and comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It has an impressive four USB ports and two 12-volt power outlets, along with Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, and hands-free texting capabilities. A six-speaker stereo is the base audio system. In front of the driver, you’ll find a 7-inch digital driver information display.

The SL upgrades to a 9-inch touch screen and a HomeLink receiver, so you can program your garage door opener for easy and secure access. This trim comes with an integrated navigation system, provides traffic updates, and has a wireless version of Apple CarPlay while keeping the wired version of Android Auto. A fifth USB port gives the third-row passengers a place to plug in, and the rear cargo area gains a 12-volt power outlet.

An optional SL Premium package adds a wireless charging pad and a 13-speaker Bose stereo system with a subwoofer for a concert-like sound inside your SUV. If you take a step up to the Platinum model, these come standard.

In addition to the contents of the Premium package, the Pathfinder Platinum comes with even more USB ports, a household-style power outlet, and a digital instrument cluster in front of the driver. This high-end trim also adds a head-up display, which shows important information on the windshield right within the driver’s line of sight, allowing them to keep their eyes on the road.

The New Rock Creek Model

The new Rock Creek trim level has several exterior additions, but it also sees a few changes in the cabin. It comes with Rock-Creek-specific seat fabric complete with orange accent stitching, and it has Rock Creek badging. This trim comes standard with second-row captain’s chairs, and it has Nissan’s surround-view camera system with an off-roading mode that provides an image of the ground in front of the Pathfinder so the driver can avoid large obstacles.

The Nissan Pathfinder has evolved over the years into much more than just an adventure-seeking SUV. While it still loves to tackle rough terrain, it’s also a family-friendly cruiser.
